Chie Tokuyama is a Japanese artist whose work is shaped by encounters, journeys, and memories across different cultures.
Born in Japan, she has lived in Osaka, Fukuoka, Hokkaido, and Tokyo, and spent ten years in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. Since 2023, she has continued her journey through Europe, living in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Zurich, Switzerland. She is now based in Tokyo while continuing to travel and explore the world.
The cultures, landscapes, people, and moments she encounters become memories and impressions, which she transforms into color and line. Her work ranges from bold, vibrant compositions to intricate monochrome drawings, reflecting the different ways experiences remain within us.
For Chie, art is a way of capturing the traces left by life and transforming them into something new.
ichigo iCHIE combines ”ichigo ichie” the Japanese philosophy of treasuring each encounter as a once-in-a-lifetime moment, with *Chie*, her own name. It represents the connection between her encounters, her journey, and her art.

Chie Tokuyamaは、日本出身のアーティストです。異なる文化や土地での暮らし、旅を通して重ねてきた出会いや経験を、創作の源としています。
これまで大阪、福岡、北海道、東京に暮らし、オーストラリアではシドニーとメルボルンで10年間を過ごしました。2023年からはヨーロッパへと活動の場を広げ、デンマークのコペンハーゲン、スイスのチューリッヒで暮らしました。現在は東京を拠点に、今も世界を旅し、新たな場所や文化との出会いを重ねています。
そこで感じた印象や記憶、感情、心に残った瞬間を、色や線へと置き換え、作品として表現しています。鮮やかな色彩と力強い構成による作品から、繊細で緻密なモノクロームの線画まで、経験が心に残していくさまざまな形を探っています。
Chieにとって、アートとは、人生の中で出会ったものが自分の中に残した痕跡をすくい取り、新たな形へと変えていくことです。
「ICHIGO iCHIE」は、一生に一度の出会いを大切にする日本の美意識「一期一会」と、自身の名前である「Chie」を重ねた言葉です。これまでの出会い、旅、人生と作品をつなぐ、Chieの創作の哲学を表しています。
